New York magazine ran a story last year about Hakan and his mother that is definitely a must read.

It is truly a sad story that a whiz kid with a promising future became an international con man all by himself, with a little help from mom of course. Too bad the 'talent' displayed by these types do not get put to good use by the federal government for the proactive purposes of preventing future tragedies instead of being wasted in prisons built with reactive rehabilitation in mind.

So much has been misreported about this family and that is a true tragedy. According to the Court records, the investigation seems to be on going but you have to ask this question: did the Government screw up its investigation because no 19-20 year could have done this alone. Whatever happened to Michael Legamaro, Matthew Thomas, Mary Siachitano, Cormac B. Meehan and Andy C. Wall?

The FFPW website on the subprime crisis, has a lot of useful information and provides access to the Court records. Visit it if you would like to get more information.
