Thank you...
And now is it waiting who will murdered next in Turkey...

Unbelievable that these kind of people get the change to use this blog as an outlet.

Another Turkish soldier will be murdered by the Kurds unfortunately.
You better start believing that there is a 'great awakening' in Turkey.
I invite every Turk to support their country, from wherever they are at this point of time and stop calling themself 'American Turk'.

Orhan Pamuk is what Malcolm X would call a "House Nigger"
Just as a "house nigger" recieved special treatment from its masters, so is our Pamuk.
First a Nobel, now Cannes, So whats next for this fool?
Maybe Dr.Phil or a guest apperrance on Nip and Tuck. Maybe put up a statue in France right next to the one of Jerry Lewis.

He's such a goooooooooood boyyyyyy!

I would never call myself an American Turk! NEVER

I am Turkish, born in Turkey and carrying a Turkish Passport. I am an AmerikanTurk because I live in America. I am so tired of all your hatred and intolerance, sorry you nationalism, it just sounds like no brain bigotry to me. Who are you gonna shoot, beat up next you piss ants.....what did Orhan Pamuk do to you besides lift up some rocks to let you crawl out from underneath. I bet you are the kind that harrass me on Istiklal, call me cennem when I don't know you and try and touch my ass when I am walking with my husband because I don't wear a headscarf. If you want to live in denial thats fine with me but please save your vomit for somewhere else...like Iran.

mc2: Rejecting a distinction which you do not even deserve, is rather silly.
At it's best, the label "Amerikan Turk" refers to those of us who value the place we LIVE ahead of the place we're FROM.
If America is our home, then our top priority for improving our lives and the lives of our families, begins here, not in Turkey. The brutal truth hurts..
If you can't explain how little thought you've ever given to the quality of life for Turks living in the US, then shut your glory hole, hypocrit.

Hans A.H.C. de Wit said...

Mc2, and anonymous:
I am a Dutch married to a Turkish.
Am I good enough to live in 'your' country.
Btw, I call my self an European rather than a Dutch.
American Turk sounds good to me as I know many Dutch Turks, German Turks, Swiss Turks etc.
May I ask you ONE question: ever been able to set foot on foreign soil? You sounds like a misantrophs to me...you misguided fools.

Anonymous said...

You lot why don't you just call yourselves Americans? And everyone's happy!

Anonymous said...

And for the lovelt Dutch person, apply for residency in Turkey, the state decides whether you're good enough or not to live in Turkey. Not me or mc2...

Anonymous said...

Gulay stop humiliating yourself, no one is interested in you or your arse..
Try to start a sentence without 'I am', you attantion seeking silly wee girl..

mc2 said...

Murat you are free to define yourself as you wish as I am . The question I have for you is what is wrong with valueing the place one is from more or as much then the place you live? You say that "Amerikan Turk" refers to those of us who value the place we LIVE ahead of the place we're FROM"
and that is reason why I WILL NEVER CALL MYSELF AN AMERICAN or an AMERIKAN TURK. NEVER!
There waas no need for your explanation in the first place. You mistakenly believed that I was attacking you, and you are wrong. Here's a little brutal truth for you Murat:
1) You hate your father
2) Your a liar. You state that there is a warrnt for out for your arrest in Turkey for not fulfilling your military obligations, and because of it uou are unable to visit the Turkey you LOVE so much. Why is that a lie? Because you are not over the age of 38. Until you reach that age my friend you can visit Turkey as much as you want, all you need to do is postpone it with the Turkish consulate.
3) You have a poor sense of yourself an insecuity if you will. You have this need to be liked and impress every peraon you meet.
4) From reading many of your post, I don't think you are a happy person.

Gulay, I will not even respond to your ignorant statements. I have yet to read anything from you that was subjective. None of my female friends and relatives wear headscarf's nor are they ridiculed for not doing so. To insinuate that you are at all times harassed both verbally and physically in Istikal for not wearing a headscarf is BULLSHIT. It may have been a random act, but you state it as a common thing. By the way the majority of women do not wear headscarfs in Istanbul and thru out Turkey. Out in the country, well thats another story.
GUL it is you that is a Hateful person.

Hans A.H.C. de Wit, I have traveled the world my friend and I have studied in the best universities, so I'm insulted by your question. I would love to have the opportunity to meet with you and compare passports, why were at it we could even compare bank accounts and home's.
As to your stupid question Am I good enough to live in 'your' country." Are you?
"You sounds like a misantrophs to me...you misguided fools."
Do weees sond like misantrophs and misguided fools.(misanthropes correct spelling by the way. See you learned something today)
Or do you.

Ne Mutlu Türküm Diyene!

Murat, I guess you are one who can't handle the truth and as you say " The brutal truth hurts"

Actions speak louder than words my insecure Murat, and not posting my comment assures me that you are not a man of your word but rather a silly boy at best.

You take my not identifying as an American Turk but rather simply as a Turk as an insult to you. You say Rejecting a distinction which you do not even deserve" as if it is some kind of honor, makes you sound foolish Murat. Think about it.

How many poor Turks have you helped monetarily? How many have you sent to University?

My answer would be many.

DO ME A FAVOR AND NOT POST THIS.

THIS IS FOR YOUR EYES ONLY!

I will never again visit this useless site just as many of my other Turkish brothers and sisters no longer do. Your ego and insecuity reeks.

Be good Murat and I hope one day you will have a clue to the workings of the world.

my dearest anonymous stop being such a patronizing and condescending moron. Just for once I wish you would offer a meaningful comment on what is being said instead of infecting everything with your supercilious verbal diarrhea. When personal attacks are made by small minded pond life such as yourself then I I I will respond. And obviously you are one of the ass pinchers as your response shows you total and utter lack of understanding and respect for the fairer sex.

So come on now make a comment on what is being posted here instead of taking me to task for my attitude. Can people be both Turkish and Amerikan Turks or does that mean that you might have to consider the fact that you dont have to be ethnically Turk to be Turkish?? How is it that in America you can be Irish/Greek/African/Russian/Italian etc. American and be proud of you ethnicity but that this is not allowed in Turkey. I mean who are the Turks anyway??? The racsim, xenophobia and outright facism being exhibited in alot of the comments here just because someone dares to challenge what is becoming an increasingly untenable version of events seems to suggest that more and more debate will be limited to what is politically acceptable to a small bunch of " guardians of nationalism". Sounds like Iran to me......or any other dictatorship you care to mention.

Too difficult for you, you silly wee man??????

mc2: You are a DICK. How dare you even mention my father at a time like this, as he fights stage 4 inoperable lung cancer. It is anonymous gutless douchebags like you who I hate.
"all you need to do is postpone it at the Turkish Consulate duh duh duh.."
Needledick, if I had a Turkish passport, I would postpone it. I do not have one, nor can I get one because there is a difference of one letter between my US id and my Turkish id. Furthermore, the police check in with my father regularly looking for me. I even have a voice message of one of their visits, with the distinctive ring of their two-ways in the back ground. You think you're pretty smart, but you're as dumb as a sack of door knobs. Why not reveal who you really are? Oh I forgot- you're a cowardly dick head. I've taken dumps bigger than you kid. Now run along and play with your iPod, or something.

Ummm, I do not live in front of a computer. I do not have access to blogger from work. Now crawl back into your hole and try not to defecate all over yourself.
"You take my not identifying as an American Turk but rather simply as a Turk as an insult to you."
I really don't care what you call yourself, as long as it isn't "intelligent".
"I will never again visit this useless site just as many of my other Turkish brothers and sisters no longer do. Your ego and insecuity reeks."
Too bad I wasted all that typing on you, douche bag! You'll be back..Every fucking day you'll be back. Because you see things in me which you hate about yourself, and projecting your self hate onto others gives you some sick form of relief. Grow a spine, kid. It takes a backbone to emerge from the stagnant cesspool where you now find yourself.

mc2. Do not lecture me on what happens on Istiklal. I assume you are a man (questionable) so you cant even begin to understand what I am talking about. Random act, its every almost every time, but then I guess that your kind probably only thinks whores and cheap sluts go out to have fun? Oh and by the way whilst I live in America at the moment I lived in Istanbul for the previous 31 and spend 3 months a year in Istanbul helping out in the Istanbul office of the Amerikan Turkish company I work for so please don't try to explain about head scarves.

As for never reading anything from me that was subjective, I will assume you mean objective. Its a pity your university education did not teach you the difference between objectivity and subjectivity. You should also try looking through the archives.

If there is anyone insecure on here its you. Thats subjective by the way. Objectively, you are a fuckwit.

I would have thought that being proud of your ethnicity or roots is the very reason why Murat calls this AmerikanTurk. It also reads better than TurkAmerikan.

Again mc2 as I pointed out to anonymous enough with the psychology about who hates who and comment on the issues here rather than the personalities.

I think it is very funny that the first comment called Pamuk a "ladyboy" -- this is of course the irony. Pamuk, and men like Dink, are in fact the bravest and most courageous men our nation has produced in a long time.

That its what drives some people crazy.

Gulay,
You do not need to know or guess or assume where the comment is coming from. Just answer to it in a civilized manner, that is -if you can. You want to know who anonymous is, because all you want to do is attack them personally. How many times do we need to tell you that I'm not interested in personalities and who you are. I'm just trying to compare and argue about ideas here.
If having Turkish roots is so incovenient and embarrasing, just hide it forever and never reveal to anyone. A lot of Turks do not want to associated with your views about their own country. You are an embarrasment to Turkey. You should reject your Turkish citizenship, you seriously do not deserve it.
However, you sound very young and inexperienced and I genuinely wish that you realise that you're making a terrible mistake. You don't know what you are missing...
All that anger and hatred must be so oppressing, in all sense I wish you the best in life one way or another. Be happy, and if rejecting your national identity is going to take all these feelings of inadequency for you, be it..

Murat Altınbasak,
I'm sorry about your dad, geçmiş olsun...
I'm also sorry that you cannot visit Turkey for whatever the reason is..
I'm also sorry that you are so angry that myself and apparently others do not reveal identities.
If it is such a problem, that's fine. I will not visit your blog anymore. To be honest with, I am not at all comitted to this blog. This is the reason I would not involve myself personally. I only do that in extreme circumstances in blogs anyway. In all honesty, I see it a little sad and and lonely.
I also hate the fact that bunch of Turks, who communicate in English and call themselves American Turks for whatever the ghastly reason is not so attractive and incredibly superficial.
So, I was maybe not genuine engaging myself into something that I see as superficial.
And now I see all the heartbreak and unhappiness surrounds you guys..
I didn't know you cannot go to Turkey. That is so tragic.
Well, I say goodbye and all the best to you..
İyi şanslar Murat. Saygılar...

anonymous: about residency - the Turkish state don't decide anything. Only the amount of money you have to pay: 200 E for 6 months, 300 E for 1 year, 800 E for 5 year. But since I fly a lot, I simple buy a tourism visa every 3 months for 10 E.

Hans A.H.C. de Wit said...

Mc2: thats the ultimate Turkish weapon: 'I am insulted'. For me it shows that a rational discusion with you is impossible.
Why should I compare my house(s) with you, my bank accounts, my passport?
As I see how you get so easily personal in a discussion, I doubt your education. For sure the first 15 years were in Turkey, as you sounds like an indoctrinated person. Happy To Be An European! As we are more united than you in Turkey.

Hans A.H.C. de Wit said...

Mc2: there is one thing I would like to compare with you:
the countries you visited for at least 2 weeks, the universities you went to outside Turkey, the countries you Lived and worked in, the foreign languages tou speak, and finally, the nationalities you worked with for at least 1 month.
Here mine stats: 59, 2, 9, 5, over 50.
But people like you, can not even adapt to another culture. Happy to know many many Turks who can, will and will do so in the future for the sake of their children, not your backwards 20th century ideology. Cheers!

[Murat]I'm sorry that you need to give a 1000 word comment to a blog you have such a low opinion of. Buh-bye!

"I also hate the fact that bunch of Turks, who communicate in English and call themselves American Turks for whatever the ghastly reason is not so attractive and incredibly superficial."

No one officially calls themselves an "Amerikan Turk", except for me. So please stop attacking all of my readers as though they are complicit in breaking whatever imaginary rules you have in your thick head about hyphenated ethnicity. Turkish Americans.. Amerikan Turks.. I prefer the latter. Get over it.
