NYT: Support Wanes in House for Genocide Vote

"Worried about antagonizing Turkish leaders, House members from both parties have begun to withdraw their support from a resolution supported by the Democratic leadership that would condemn as genocide the mass killings of Armenians nearly a century ago."

I still have hope that this resolution will reach the House and pass, but even if it doesn't, this has been a great victory for the Armenian cause. Every Congressperson, no matter if they were for or against the resolution, has stated that there was Genocide. Every person interviewed on TV, radio & newspapers, on this topic has stated that what the Turks did to the Armenians was Genocide.

The only question anyone has brought up is the timing. I think the timing is just right. But that's ok. We'll be here, when the State Department thinks that the timing is Right. If not today, tomorrow. If not this year, next year. We'll be here. This resolution will pass, eventually.

If you think about it, this could be a good thing. As long as the resolution hasn't passed, the Americans are holding a giant rock over Turkey's head. If Turkey makes one more, against American interests, the rock will drop.

One article I read (and posted on this site) suggested that the Turks will commit genocide against the Kurds, if allowed to go into Iraq. Well, if we are able to keep 1.5 million or more Kurds from being slaughtered, then so be it. It's unfortunate that something like this didn't prevent the Turks from killing the Armenians in 1915.

Turkish denialists should be very, very worried. No one in the US or Europe sees things the way they see it. In fact, if you think about it, the American government and the people showed that they agree with the resolution. Just the formality of passing the resolution hasn't happened yet.

It will. I promise. My children promise. My grandchildren promise... and so do their children.

Sean: You are more idiotic than I ever thought if you are now suggesting this resolution will stop the Turks from committing genocide against 1.5 million Kurds?

Those were not my words. I posted a link to the article that suggested that on this site. You are too quick to insult.
